How to Grow Agrimax Coriander:

  • Planting Location: Coriander thrives in a sunny spot with well-drained, fertile soil. It prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0-7.0) that is rich in organic matter. Coriander also grows well in containers if you have limited garden space.

  • Sowing the Seeds: Sow coriander seeds directly in the ground or in containers about ¼ inch (0.6 cm) deep. Space the seeds 2-3 inches (5-7 cm) apart in rows, or plant them in small clusters for a more natural look. You can also start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date.

  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. Coriander prefers regular watering, especially in dry weather, but it’s important to ensure the soil drains well to prevent root rot.

  • Thinning: Once the seedlings appear, thin them to about 4-6 inches (10-15 cm) apart. This allows the plants to grow freely and develop into strong, healthy plants.

  • Fertilizing: Coriander benefits from a light feeding of balanced fertilizer or compost before planting. You can also add a slow-release fertilizer during the growing season to encourage strong growth.

  • Weeding and Mulching: Keep the growing area free of weeds to avoid competition for nutrients. Mulching helps to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature, and it can reduce weed growth around the plants.

  • Harvesting: Coriander leaves (cilantro) can be harvested once the plant is large enough, usually around 3-4 weeks after sowing. For the seeds, allow the plant to flower and go to seed. Once the seeds turn brown and dry, cut the seed heads and let them finish drying before harvesting the seeds.

  • Storage: Fresh coriander leaves can be stored in the fridge wrapped in a damp paper towel. The seeds can be stored in an airtight container for long-term use. Dried coriander seeds are ideal for grinding into spice blends or using in cooking.
